Tracebacks.org Privacy Policy
Last Updated August 30, 2021
The Industry Traceback Group, LLC (ITG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of USTelecom – The Broadband Association, operates the tracebacks.org website as part of the industry effort to protect voice networks and consumers from fraudulent, abusive, and unlawful robocalls.
This Privacy Policy explains the ITG’s collection, use, and sharing of information in connection with Tracebacks.org. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the ITG’s Secure Traceback Portal (STP), which is addressed by a separate privacy policy.
Information Collection
We collect personal information about you that you provide it to us, such as your email address when you use our contact forms.
In addition, when you browse tracebacks.org, we may collect certain electronic information, including information about your computer or device. We also may use cookies and other similar mechanisms to better understand how you and others use the website. We may utilize third-party providers that collect this information directly from our website.
Some browsers have incorporated “Do Not Track” features. Most of these features, when turned on, send a signal or preference to the website or online service that a user visits, indicating that the user does not wish to be tracked. Because there is not yet a common understanding of how to interpret Do Not Track signals, we do not currently respond to those signals. For more information regarding Do Not Track mechanisms, see http://allaboutdnt.com/.
Information Use and Sharing
We use and share the information you provided as needed to communicate with you, improve our website, and as part of our overall efforts to stop illegal robocalls. We may, for instance, disclose information you provide to us in a contact form to law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and/or other entities as we deem appropriate to best effectuate the ITG’s mission to identify and stop illegal robocalls, as permitted by law. We also may use such information in order to initiate tracebacks through the STP.
We rely on service providers and contractors to support the ITG’s operations, including the maintenance, operation, and improvement of the tracebacks.org website as well as the ITG’s efforts to investigate illegal robocalls. We may share the information we collect through tracebacks.org with such service providers.
In addition, we may disclose information we collect if required to do so by law or if we, in good faith, believe that disclosure is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation; (ii) protect and defend our rights or property; (iii) act in emergency situations to protect personal safety or the safety of the public; or (iv) protect against legal liability. We also may share anonymous and/or aggregated information.
Information Protection
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect against the loss, misuse and alternation. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures and controls to safeguard and secure such information.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy from time to time. The most current version of our Privacy Policy will be located at https://tracebacks.org/privacy.
